Join ECTA of Canada
Participation in ECTA of Canada is available to all Canadian Vendors or Manufacturers of Electronic Cigarettes, E-liquid and/or accessories, subject to our Code of Conduct, application approval process and payment of the required fees. All ECTA approved businesses are required to pay fees (including the founding members) - which are used to cover operating expenses incurred on behalf of each business.

All products and aspects of business in the electronic cigarette industry are governed by standards and/or laws, enforced by either Federal or Provincial regulators. Electronic cigarette products, however, are often misclassified by regulators, creating inter-agency confusion that interferes with the natural growth of the industry.
ECTA is a self-regulating body which has carefully researched standards and will demonstrate compliance on every product (represented by ECTA businesses), while also working with government regulators to ensure that proper classifications are made and maintained. We will also advocate on behalf of the many small businesses that make up this industry to provide a strong and vibrant future. Participating as an ECTA Member:-

Information Packets and Applications
ECTA has two different memberships types that are available to Canadian based Electronic Cigarette, E-Liquid and related product businesses.
- Client Member - These members are directly responsible for maintaining compliance standards and are subject to the highest level of auditing. To qualify for Client Membership, your Canadian based business must be the importer and/or manufacturer of Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquid and/or related products. ECTA Founding Directors/Board Members are also Client Members.
- Distributor Member - These members are businesses that receive all of their Electronic Cigarette, E-Liquid and related products directly from an ECTA Client Member. A majority of the auditing and all compliance would be covered under the Client Member. Because there is less involved for ECTA to maintain/manage Distributor Membership, these memberships have a lower fee.
NOTE: Distributor membership requires a Client Member Sponsor in good standing that agrees to the terms of responsibility for the Distributor compliance.

All of this information will be kept confidential and used for official ECTA of Canada purposes only. This document must be completed and returned. This document contains the Industry Standard of Excellence (ISE) Guide Table of Contents, Executive Summary and the contents of Chapter 1.
Depending on your type of business, the application approval process will involve some sort of preliminary audit of your operation (i.e. Web Site content for cessation/therapeutic/health claims and such). Once the preliminary audit is complete, you will be contacted with the results of your application. We may require some immediate adjustments prior to approval of your application.
